FAQ > Frequently Asked Questions from Job Candidates > Is there real value in obtaining an MBA or similar graduate degree when already holding a management position at 50+ years of age?

Search the FAQ for entries containing:

As a rule an MBA should pay for itself but you should probably ask the following questions before proceeding:

1) Will my employer pay for part or all of my MBA?

2) Will my employer give me a promotion and/or a raise once I obtain my MBA?

3) Do other companies in my field require an MBA in order to advance?

4) Am I able to commit the time and money to an MBA?

Anything that helps make you more marketable is a good thing. That includes an MBA, Six Sigma certifications, specialized master’s degrees, even additional technology training. If you are planning on working another 10-15 years the additional education should certainly pay for itself if you’re in a position to go out and earn it!

Good Luck!
