Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain background - Resume advice

Reader Question:

I have Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering, and have a specialization in Supply chain management, Lean Manufacturing, and Engineering Systems. Am ready to work in any field out of these three. How should I modify my resume to accomodate the three? Also, I have heard that the hiring managers like it when the resume is one page. Is it true?

Recruiter response:

Thank you for your inquiry to The SearchLogix Group.  It certainly sounds as if you have a diverse background.  Quite frankly, I am always looking for good IE’s so please send me a resume to take a look at.

In any case, let the resume reflect all of the diverse things you have done. If you are sending it in response to a specific ad, then you can tailor it a bit to fit the description.  In general, highlight all of your achievements…the diverse background would be of interest to potential employers.  One page is always nice, but if it goes to two it is not a big deal. The length should directly reflect how long you have been in the workforce.  If you have 10 years of experience, it would be hard to summarize that in one page.  If you have 2 years of experience, one page should be sufficient.

Hope this helps.
