Technical and Marketing background - Career Advice

Reader Question:

I have had a very successful career in technical sales and marketing for the past 20 years. I have an MBA, MA and undergraduate degrees in biology and engineering. With a basic, proven ability to develop business and manage sales/marketing in just about any field, here’s the question: If you wanted to “crown” your sales career in one particular industry, and wanted to maximize your income, growth and the (hard to define) satisfaction quotient, what industry would you target?

Recruiter’s Advice:

We have been recruiting for a long time. One thing we have learned…all industries, companies, and people have a common trait. They think the grass is greener on the other side. All will have “ups & downs” over time. We often have people comment about “being easy” just to find out “different industry same issues. We hope this helps but the “crowning event” is what you make it. According to Stephen Covey, view your life from your death and look backwards. What will people say about you in the end is the most important / crowning event.
