Can Coffee Help you Land Your Next Job?

A study done by Austria’s Innsbruck Medical University revealed that coffee improved the short term memory of the participants in their study. Quick thinking on an interview is definitely an asset. You might consider drinking a cup of coffee before the big event?

Hopefully, your interviewer(s) will be drinking coffee too. Research posted on the Queensland University of Technology website says that we become better listeners and information processers after we’ve had caffeine. Caffeine also puts people in a better mood. When you put all of the effects together, an interviewer who drinks caffeinated coffee is more apt to agree with your suggestions.

So, besides your outstanding resume and interviewing skills, you might consider bringing your interviewer a good cup of coffee. A little insurance can’t hurt, right? :)

Why wouldn't a cup of coffee help a person get hired? Being quick and alert definately gives a positvie impression. Too much caffine could have the opposite effect though, so I might avoid a triple espresso before the interview. :)

Thank you for this wonderful advice. Though I know that caffeine can help restore alertness, I didn't know that coffee has this kind of effect. But since it's normal to be nervous before an interview, wouldn't drinking a cup of coffee add to one's anxiety?

I am a coffee addict. Drinking coffee puts me in good mood. So making a coffee shop our venue for an interview or any presentation is such a great idea that I will be trying on in a few days from now. Thanks for this blog!
