Dear Steve Jobs, We have Received Your Tax Return. A $1 Salary?

Steve Jobs, the “main brain”, at Apple Computer reported to the Securities & Exchange Commission that he made $1 for his salary last year. He also had to pay out just over $200,000 of his money for the expenses he incurred using his private plane for business. Jeez. Jobs is not only an innovative thinker and visionary, he can really stretch a buck, can’t he?

Ok. I know what you’re thinking. Jobs has tons of money so he doesn’t need more than $1 salary. Well, that may be true, but who would question that he’s worth every dime he’s got? Not me. I happen to love Apple products: the Macintosh, the Mac OS, the iPod, and iTunes! I got an iPod as a gift from my son a few years ago (yep, that’s it in the picture). Yes it’s one of the original iPods but it still sounds and works great! No, I can’t watch videos on it. The original iPods didn’t have that capability, but under Jobs guidance they can do it now! But, I can still watch downloadable iTunes movies and tv shows on my laptop. Shhh… don’t tell Jobs that I use a PC. I do have a Mac though and think the Mac is probably the best thing since sliced bread.

In any event, I love Apple products and software. But, what I love more about Apple is the fact that they live by their motto “think different”. It is what has made them the successful company that they are today. Well, under the direction of Steve Jobs, the genius who’s only taking $1 for a salary.

Oh, Steve if you’re reading this…. did you read the part that I talked about me having an original iPod? Got a spare iPod you could send me to test out for you? I’d even take last year’s model if you’ve got an extra hanging around. And I probably don’t have to tell you, that it’s a deductible business expense. Just tell them that I did some advertising for you. It’s not a lie. Just print out this blog posting so you’ll have proof. You know how the IRS is about showing proof. Oh! Steve, feel free to use the 1040 iPod picture that I’ve included in this blog, if you want to use it on your own blog. Just credit the picture to me and link back to The Daily Recruiter, ok?  I’d appreciate that! :)

Steve Jobs had a unique ability to envision solutions to problems before us mortal users knew we had these problems and the break-through products he envisioned; the entirely new categories he created; saving Apple from the brink; saving the music industry.
