Executive Assistant Gets $152,000 Bonus for Creative Problem Solving
Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 01:05AM The Interminds consulting firm wants its employees to be innovative thinkers and they designed a policy designed to do just that. Any employee who comes up with a new idea that saves the company money and promotes the company’s vision gets half of the savings. It was an incentive that inspired one of its executive assistants to automate the company’s labor intensive task of manually tracking 900 of its field representatives. By using her idea, Interminds saved $304,000 during the first year they implemented her procedure. The company was happy and so was the executive assistant. She earned a $152,000 bonus! Hmmm… I wonder if they have any job openings? Interminds? I can be creative. Really, I can! (grin)
The story about Interminds was posted on a Harvard Business Review article called $152,000 for Your Thoughts. It’s an interesting read, that suggests ways that any company can harvest their team’s creative and problem solving ideas!
