Job Hunting: It Doesn't Have to Be a Losing Game

Trying to reach your career goal but you seem to be missing every shot?  If you not getting the kind of career opportunities that you hoped to get, do what the athletes do!

  • If you’re going to interviews but not getting 2nd interviews or getting 2nd interviews but not getting the job(s), you may need to train harder. Hard training means getting yourself back in school to complete or increase your degree level or getting you the kinds of certifications that will help you get noticed by a big league recruiter!
  • Be willing to travel to where the game is being played! If you’re having difficulty getting a job in your area, think about moving to another area where the opportunities are better. Some companies will pay to relocate candidates and some do not. If you find a job that you feel well qualified for, don’t cross them off your list because they are outside of your geographical area. If it’s a good job, be willing to travel for “the team”!

You made some excellent points. I think sometimes job seekers tend to not look at themselves as the culprit as to why they don't get job offers. It could be their interviewing skills; it could be their lack of required training.

It's not that easy to get a job...especially one that you really want. Time to step up your game!
