The Future of Executive Conferences
Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 06:28PM The Heinrich-Hertz-Institute has developed a prototype of a 3D videoconference system. The system will create a virtual representation of a face-to-face meeting using the MPEG-4 standard, the newest video coding technology. For the first time, you will be able to communiate with participants from near and far without any difference to real meetings. But, you won’t have to provide coffee and donuts to the participants that aren’t physically located in your office. :)
The system will display a conference table in which remote participants will be presented in 3D. Remote participants will also appear natural and life sized, creating the optical illusion that you are actually sitting across a conference table from them.
Besides having the ability to meet with co-workers and business partners, it may prove to be the job interviewing tool of the future! Sounds to me like Heinrich-Hertz-Institute is on to something very cool here!
