Reuben Slone has joined Walgreens as Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Management. Reporting to President of Community Management, Mark Wagner, Slone will be responsible for distribution, transportation, systems integration and engineering, Lean and Six Sigma supply chain initiatives and community outreach.

“Reuben has deep experience in leading supply chain operations, improving service and efficiency and driving innovation in the management of inventory from distribution centers to the stores,” said Wagner. “He is a great addition to Walgreens leadership team, and we are looking forward to his insights and perspective as we continue to focus on making our distribution system more effective for both our team members and customers.”

Will China steal Logistics Executives from Hong Kong Companies?

The U.S. is not the only country feeling the squeeze from China’s manufacturers. Many of Hong Kong’s manufacturing plants are now vacant, as are so many in the U.S. China is the manufacturing hub that Hong Kong once was. But, Hong Kong learned something about logistics during the time they were the ones making so many low priced products bought by generations past. What they learned is what China is still striving to learn as it becomes the manufacturing center of the world. China, according to Hong Kong logistics execs still has a lot to learn about moving the products they make. But, Hong Kong is definitely concerned about how long it will be before China becomes a threat to their stronghold on logistics in Asia.
